Electing a Female President
I am so impressed by the huge leap made by the country we get all our off season produce from. If you are one of those fruit-aholics that will spend six dollars on a cantaloupe you probably guessed correctly: Chile! They have thrown tradition aside and taken their chances on a woman to lead their country. Last night Chile elected their first female president. This is the third Latin country to do so. Women are leaders all over the world. Even our buddies from Great Britain have had female presidents who did a fantastic job. Once again my complaint with this land I love so much, why are we so far ahead of much of the world in technology and financial success and still so far behind in our social structure? We are so great we can do anything we put our resources forward to accomplish. Yet, we are too primitive to trust a woman to lead us in power. My point is if you ask anyone in the U.S. who deserves the credit of making them who they are and who is their greatest role model the number one answer would be MOM! Although dad is a major influence, no one person has more of a place in our hearts than our mothers. Now realize I'm speaking very generally. I know that some families, including my own, have exceptions to the rule. But, boys love their mothers and daughters have that special, unspoken bond from the womb. If we put so much emphasis on listening to our mothers who admittedly "always know best", why do we not not have one as president? If anyone should be better at whipping this country into shape and settling disputes between other countries not wanting to share and punishing destructive boys that throw bombs and tantrums, it is a MOTHER. Presidents must always multitask and most women I know keep great composure and effective balance while juggling thirty things at once. I agree that we should elect the person best fit for the job, male or female. I believe that we don't often see many females auditioning for the position. I don't think female candidates in the near future will be given much of a fair chance in this country.I know for sure that if we are given the opportunity to elect a female best for the job, I will cast that ballot based on capability rather than gender. I just hope enough people will be brave enough to join me.
