Let the Shedding Begin

Tick- Tock- Tick -Tock, still waiting. We were supposedly supposed to find results from the laser hair removal after this first treatment. Hmmm... Nearly $1300 later I see no shedding. It has now officially been a week. The prognostic time period for shedding of hair. Perhaps it's just shedding differently than I had pictured in my mind. I have pets and I know what shedding looks like. Maybe shedding from the human face is different. Don't know but we shall see. There are still more procedures to come so I will remain hopeful and patient. I was just expecting more.

  • As an RN and owner of my own laser hair removal center, let me help you with what to expect with the shedding cycle. (this will be a little lengthy so bear with me). The shedding phase begins about 3 days after your treatment. It will appear that your hair is growing but it is simply starting to push its' way out of your skin. Some of your hair will likely be so coarse that it will not shed. Instead, this hair will just sit there in your skin looking like a close shave until either a new hair grows up behind it and pushes it out or you have your next treatment. I tell people to expect the shedding phase to take up to 2 weeks. If you are having treatments with a yag laser (for darker skin types), it may take 3 weeks. If at 3 to 4 weeks after your treatment, you already have hair growing then the treatment may not have worked for you. One week is not long enough to know for sure. I hope this helps.
