Isn't it Ironic, Don't Ya Think?

Mind you I write this from only my personal perspective. I see that my mother in law is always feeling she must compete with her sister and her sister's family. Her sister is affluent with two perfect examples of daughters that contribute above and beyond to society. Living their perfect lives following the book to a tee. My mother in law is not as equally affluent who's "son" in her eyes lives life questionably. It has been quite obvious from our last few visits that we are not the pick of the crop. We have been made to feel as if we are to be hidden from the family as not to bring about embarrassment.
The family is now going to be on our turf. They are coming out for a visit. I had assumed that they would want to include us in their visit and was a little shocked and embarrassed as it quickly became clear that this was not the plan. After coming to terms with the hurt for my family I found out some very interesting news. Ironically my mother in law has been called to her new teaching position early. That means that she will be working her brand new job the whole time the family is here. My father in law will also be working so it turns out we will be the only ones free during the days to show them around. Isn't it ironic , don't ya think?
